The fifth option are leaflets and flyers. “They got me 10 jobs from just one building,” says Filip. However, this strategy works only if you drop leaflets and flyers directly at buildings. “Otherwise, leaflets are waste of time and money. I wouldn’t advise to simply have them dispersed around neighbourhoods,” explains Filip from the London Cleaning System.

The sixth option is hire a cold calling estate agency and offer your services. This is a very good idea if you’re specialising on end of tenancy cleaning. The only problem with this option is that it can involve deferred payment, which means you may end up waiting to get paid for a few months. You will get a lot of phone calls from fake companies promising to get your website on the first page on Google. Resist the temptation and just say no because they are only after your money. DO NOT fall for their promises,” advises Filip.

How much money do I need to get started?

For domestic and general cleaning you need about £1500, of which £500 for creating a website and £1000 for marketing.

For all other options, you will also need a vehicle and cleaning machine. “Don’t buy an expensive car and cleaning machine. Instead, invest most of your money in marketing which is the key if you want to succeed in this business. You can buy a better car and more powerful cleaning machine later. On average, you need about £2,000-£8,000 for a van and between £1,000-£2,000 for a second-hand cleaning machine,” explains Filip from the London Cleaning System.
